WB: CPI-M candidate arrested for violating code

Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate from Bhatpara constituency Harimohan Nath was arrested Wednesday night for violating the model code of conduct, official sources said on Thursday.

Polling was countermanded in Bhatpara Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district following the death of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate.

Election to the seat will take place on May 16. A first information report was registered against the CPI (M) candidate.

He was later released on a personal release bond, the sources added.
