Namdhari elected Jharkhand speaker

National Democratic Alliance candidate Inder Singh Namdhari was on Tuesday elected speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly.

He was elected by a voice-vote amidst protests by the opposition United Progressive Alliance [ Images ]. He defeated UPA's Annapoorna Devi by 40-38 votes.

His name was proposed by Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
