Jharkhand protem speaker resigns

Jharkhand protem Speaker Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu on Saturday resigned from his post, Raj Bhavan sources said.

Balmuchu's resignation came a day after his failure to conduct a trial of strength in the assembly as directed by the Supreme Court.

Normally, the senior-most member of the House is appointed a protem speaker after the elections to preside over the oath-taking by members and the speaker's election.
