Seventy-seven legislators - 36 of the United Progressive Alliance and 41 of the National Democratic Alliance - were sworn in as members of the 81-member Jharkhand assembly on Thursday.
Interestingly, three legislators supporting the UPA - Kamlesh Singh of the Nationalist Congress Party and Aparna Sengupta and Bhanupratap Sahi of the Forward Bloc did not turn up for taking the oath.
All the 41 members from the NDA camp, including the five independents - Sudesh Mahato, Chandraprakash Choudhury, Enos Ekka, Madhu Kora and Hari Narain Rai - took the oath.
The proceedings inside the assembly were being recorded on video.
The pro-tem speaker adjourned the house till Friday, when the vote of confidence will take place.
Earlier, 37 NDA legislators, including the five independents, arrived in Ranchi from Rajasthan, where they had been staying since March four.
