Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan on Tuesday hinted that there will be a realignment of political forces in Bihar in a month.
He added that he would wait for the situation to unfold before taking a shot at government formation.
Paswan was addressing media persons in New Delhi after holding a 30-minute meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"The political alignments will unfold after a month," he said adding, "I can say this because I have been in politics for 36 years."
The state was brought under President's Rule on Monday as no political party or formation had a majority in the 243-assembly.
About aligning with Janata Dal-United, he said it could happen only if the party broke off from the National Democratic Alliance-led combine.
However, JD(U) rejected LJP's invitation to join forces in Bihar after leaving the NDA-led combine.
Instead, the party asked Paswan to 'respect the anti-RJD mandate' to provide an alternative.
Paswan also suggested that he would support a Muslim chief minister from JD(U).
"We have four Muslim members of Legislative Assembly. But will he (Paswan) decide what we should do and who will be the chief minister. First let him come out of the United Progressive Alliance," senior JD(U) leaders Sharad Yadav said.
Nitish Kumar said, "The failure of forming a popular government is primarily due to LJP's failure to honour the people's verdict."
