The United Progressive Alliance government on Thursday said it had no role in Jharkhand governor Syed Sibtey Razi's decision to appoint Sibu Soren as chief minister.
The denial came after the opposition alleged that the governor took the decision at the instance of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
"In fact, the Centre had asked the governor to be correct and follow the Constitutional norms," the sources said.
Hours earlier, the Congress party had issued a similar disclaimer.
