Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said his party had reached a seat-sharing agreement with the Congress for the Bihar assembly polls.

Lalu's statement came a day after Lok Janashakti Party announced withdrawal of its candidates from 15 seats where Congress has fielded its candidates.

Mahajan entrusted with Bihar polls

Rubbishing the claim of LJP president and cabinet colleague Ram Vilas Paswan about a poll-pact with the Congress, Lalu told the press that according to the arrangement, the RJD and the Congress would not put up candidates against each other.

Lalu was speaking at a press conference after releasing the party's poll.

He said there was no official word available from the Congress confirming the seat-sharing deal with the LJP and "Paswan's claim in this regard is unilateral".

On Wednesday, Paswan had declared the withdrawal of candidates following talks with senior Congress leaders Arjun Singh, Ahmed Patel, Mohsina Kidwai, Harikesh Bahadur and M L Fotedar.
