Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad said today he would take support from like-minded parties and independent MLAs to form a government in the event of his party falling short of majority.

"I will not not hesitate in taking support from our secular allies like the Congress, CPI and CPI-M to form the RJD government in Bihar," Lalu said without mentioning Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party as counting was taken up in all the 243 assembly constituencies in the state.

He also dismissed reports that the poll outcome would have an adverse effect on the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre.

"There will be no impact on the UPA as it is strong and solid," he said.

Asked whether he would back a Congress chief minister if the RJD failed to secure the majority on its own, Lalu said "all such talks are absurd at this moment."
