The Congress on Thursday said it would not join hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal to form a government in Bihar in case the recently held election throws up a hung assembly.

"We are firm in our stand of not siding with the RJD in forming the next government in Bihar. The party's state unit will make a formal request to our national president Sonia Gandhi in this regard after the results are declared on February 27," state Congress chief Ramjatan Sinha told reporters in Patna.

Exit polls have predicted a hung assembly in the state.

Sinha charged RJD president Lalu Prasad and chief minister Rabri Devi with 'mud-slinging' against the Congress.

"We will not make any compromise on the issues of kidnapping, crime and law and order, and we firmly believe that continuing our relation with the RJD will be suicidal," he said.
