The Election Commission on Saturday served a notice on the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar seeking to know the 'factual position' on its use of CDs containing footage of the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat for campaigning.
The EC notice follows a complaint filed by the opposition National Democratic Alliance.
Bihar Chief Electoral Officer K C Saha issued the notice to the RJD's state president Abdul Bari Siddiqui asking him to file his reply by 5 pm, February 14.
The NDA believes that the use of CDs could ignite communal trouble in the state.
Over a thousand people were killed in communal riots in Gujarat after over 50 people, mostly Hindus returning from a pilgrimage to Ayodhya, died in a train fire in Godhra in February 2002.
