The legislature wing of the Nationalist Congress Party, which emerged as the single largest party in the Maharashtra assembly election, will meet in Mumbai on Monday.

The meeting will be held at 1500 IST at the party headquarters in south Mumbai, NCP state unit general secretary Gurunath Kulkarni said.

Central observers Tariq Anwar, D P Tripathi and Praful Patel will be present at the meeting, during which the party leader in the legislature will be elected.

Asked about the NCP's claim for the chief ministership, Kulkarni said the issue would be discussed at the meeting.
