New PM gets down to business

Getting down to business shortly after he was sworn in, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] on Saturday night drove to his South Block office where he held consultations with Cabinet Secretary Kamal Pandey and other top officials.

Singh, accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur, was received at his office by S Narayan, economic adviser in the PMO, and Principal Information Officer Shakuntala Mahalwal.

The prime minister posed for photographs, but did not make any comments.

Singh also had talks with Foreign Secretary Shashank as also senior officers in the Prime Minister's Office.
