The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday made fresh efforts to persuade Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Muthuvel Karunanidhi to join a Congress-led coalition government at the Centre.
The DMK won all 16 seats it contested in Tamil Nadu, fighting under the umbrella of the Progressive Democratic Alliance.
CPI (M) general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet had a 2-minute meeting with Karunanidhi in Chennai.
"The matter was discussed," Surjeet told newsmen after the meeting. "It is developing in such a way that you will be satisfied."
Surjeet did not elaborate.
