It has been over four hours' wait for the six polling officials at a booth in the Vatakara Lok Sabha constituency. But they are hopeful that Dasan will turn up to cast his vote soon.
Once Dasan's left index finger is inked, their work would be over. He is the only voter registered to vote in this booth under the Koorachundu panchayat near Kakkayam town.
The booth is located at the Kerala State Electricity Board office at the Kakkayam dam site, 14 km from Kakkayam.
Dasan will be travelling 3 km through the forest to reach the booth. The news has come that he is waiting for transportation and is likely to arrive around noon.
N K Nambiar, the presiding officer, is manning a single-voter booth for the first time. He says it's a 'strange situation', but also 'fun'.
Dasan, a native of Pambady in Kottayam, came to Kakkayam as an estate employee in 1968.
