Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa on Monday said a large number of people had been denied their right to vote in Chennai.

"A woman living in the Poes Garden area since 1968 before I constructed a house there, could not cast her vote as her name was not in the voters' list," she said.

Similar complaints were received from other booths also, Jayalalithaa said after casting her vote at the Stella Mary's College booth in Chennai, adding that she would take up the matter with the state chief electoral officer.

She declined to comment on opinion and exit polls that have predicted that the National Democratic Alliance may not cross the halfway mark in the 14th Lok Sabha.

"I will wait for the results to come. I will reserve my comments till then," said Jayalalithaa, whose party is contesting the election in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
