About 52 per cent polling was recorded Wednesday in the Lok Sabha elections in 25 seats in Rajasthan, the state election office said, while the Election Commission ordered repolling in 14 booths where EVMs were damaged in stray incidents of violence.
The polling was peaceful barring a few clashes between supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress in Dholpur's Deeg area, Jodhpur's Luni and Sikar, Jhalawar's Eklera village and at a village in Pali, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) S N Jairath said.
Meanwhile, an official release said that repolling was ordered in 14 booths in the state after EVMs were damaged in stray cases of violence.
The repolling would be conducted between 7 am and 5 pm on May 7 in 14 booths in Bharatpur, Pali, Udaipur and Jhalawar Lok Sabha constituencies, it said.
Churu recorded the highest polling percentage (62), followed by Dausa (61), Sika (55), Bhilwara (54), and Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Salumber, Udaipur and Barmer with 53 each, election office said.
Following these were Banswara, Bharatpur and Ganganagar (52 each); Sawaimadhopur 51, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Chittorgarh and Jaipur (50 each); Pali and Kota (49 each), Jalore, Jhalawar and Bayana (47 each); and Alwar and Tonk (45 each).
