Polling for the lone parliamentary seat in Nagaland began amid tight security on Wednesday.
Voters could be seen queuing up outside polling stations since early morning, official sources said.
Over 10.40 lakh voters will decide the fate of five candidates, including the Ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland candidate Wangyuh Konyak and Congress member of Parliament K Asungba Sangtam.
Sixty-three companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed to assist over 12,000 state police and home guard personnel to ensure a free and fair poll.
