At least eight persons, including three poll staff, were injured on Tuesday as militants stepped up attacks on the eve of polling in Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency. The targets: a CRPF camp, a polling booth and the house of a ruling PDP leader in Anantnag district.

In Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Mufti Sayeed's hometown Bijbehara, militants hurled a rifle grenade at a polling station injuring a head constable.
Ultras also attacked the residence of Communist Party of India MLC Abdul Rahman in Anantnag district. However, there was no loss of life or property in the explosion.
In another attack, the ultras fired a rifle grenade at a polling station housed in a school at Badgam. However, no casualties were reported.
Soldiers defused an Improvised Explosive Device planted in a school, which was to used as a polling booth, in Qazigund area of Anantnag town at around 9pm.
Ruling Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti is in the fray for the Anantnag seat.
