Advani gets a 'SAD' welcome near Ludhiana

About 100 Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann) workers were arrested on Thursday shortly before the 'Bharat Uday Yatra' of Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani was to reach Ludhiana from Chandigarh.

The activists were arrested in small batches in and around Khant, Ranwa and Khamano villages of Khanna and Fatehgarh Sahab districts, police sources said.

Despite the precautionary arrests, a group of SAD (Mann) workers managed to wave black flags as Advani reached Jamalpur on the outskirts of Ludhiana.

Advani addressed SAD (Badal) and Bharatiya Janata Party workers outside the sub-divisional magistrate's office at Khamano.
