Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Wednesday had to change the route of his Bharat Uday Yatra at Karnal after some protestors blocked a road, official sources said.

Advani's rath was originally scheduled to enter the city from the Namastey Chowk on the National Highway on Panipat side and exit via the city and reach the National Highway on Kurukshetra.
But the district administration as a precautionary measure changed the route after some retrenched employees of Haryana Minor Irrigation Tubewell Corporation (HMITC) collected at a spot on the original route with black flags, sources said.
Some Congress workers had also collected in the city with a memorandum, which they had planned to submit to Advani contradicting the 'feel good' claim of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance government.
