The Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday launched a joint campaign for the Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, as Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu shared a dais at a public meeting in Hyderabad.

While Naidu, the TDP chief, raised the issue of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, Advani stuck to the developmental plank, listing the National Democratic Alliance government's achievements.

Naidu said, "We will not tolerate a foreigner to rule our country and voters should teach Congress a fitting lesson."

Advani, whose 'Bharat Uday Yatra' arrived in Hyderabad in the evening, spoke at length on the improved relations with Pakistan and the initiatives taken by government.

He also promised jobs to all and water to all farmers if the NDA came back to power.

Advani entered the state at Zaheerabad in Medak district and arrived in Hyderabad three hours behind schedule.
