Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati on Thursday accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi of encouraging feudal forces and neglecting dalits.
"Both Congress and BJP symbolise perpetuation of the manuvaadi system," she said at a rally in Patna. "There is no sense in having an electoral alliance with them."
The comments came days after Gandhi called her on her birthday, triggering speculation that the Congress would join forces with the BSP for the general election.
Mayawati said her party would enter into alliances with only those who had the strength to get their votes transferred to the BSP. "As long as we are not sure of the capacity of a party to get its votes transferred to us, we will not join forces with it," she said'
Mayawati said if a fruitful electoral arrangement was not evolved, the BSP would go it alone in the polls.
