The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party are expected to wrap up a deal on seat sharing in Maharashtra and some other states next week for the coming Lok Sabha election.

Both parties are scheduled to hold a final round of talks in the next few days.

All India Congress Committee general secretary Vayalar Ravi and NCP leader Praful Patel gave indications to this effect after a meeting of senior leaders of both the parties, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had at the residence of NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday.

Talking to reporters, both the leaders declined to divulge the seat sharing formula in Maharashtra but Patel said that his party was also seeking seats in some other states as part of the alliance.

Seats are being sought by the NCP in Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Manipur, Patel said.
