Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Wednesday met the Election Commission and demanded the countermanding of election in Chapra Lok Sabha constituency, where he was pitted against the Rashtriya Janata Dal's Laloo Prasad Yadav.

A BJP delegation, including Rudy and party MP Balbir Punj, met Deputy Election Commissioner Noor Mohammad and complained that there was large-scale violence, including killings and destruction of electronic voting machines, by RJD workers in the constituency.

Rudy, a Union minister, said though the commission had termed 800 polling stations as "sensitive", proper security was deployed only in 200 booths.

He said the delegation also submitted to the commission evidence in the form of photos and video clippings.

"Democracy is being murdered in Chapra, where a reign of terror prevails," Punj said.

Rudy said that the commission gave him a patient hearing.
