The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday claimed that along with allies it would secure 83 of the 136 seats that went to polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election on Monday.
But the party admitted it was under pressure in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
An internal survey undertaken by the party's Research and Documentation Section gives it 12 out of the 32 seats in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh where voting took place in the second phase.
According to this survey, the party is expected to secure 186 seats in the two phases totalling 276 with the BJP getting 133 on its own out of the 183 it contested. Its allies are tipped to get 53.
The survey showed that the party's performance in Karnataka continued to be 'very good' even in the second phase as out of the 10 of 13 seats that it contested, it is expected to get eight while its allies are likely to get two.
According to the survey, in Bihar, of the 17 seats in this phase, the party and its allies are expected to bag 16 with BJP getting six.
However, in Andhra Pradesh the survey does not appear to be favourable for the party as of the 21 seats, the party is expected to get four and along with its ally Telugu Desam Party, it is likely to get 12.
The survey gives BJP six of the 24 seats where polling was held in Maharashtra while its ally, Shiv Sena, is expected to get three bringing the tally to nine.
