Bharatiya Janata Party chief Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said the ruling National Democratic Alliance will win a comfortable majority in the 14th Lok Sabha.
Speaking to reporters after a strategy meeting of top BJP leaders in New Delhi to review the party's performance in the first two phases of Lok Sabha election, Naidu rejected recent exit polls results that have predicted a hung Parliament.
When asked if the party was working on any post-poll alliances, he said: "There is no need for thinking about post-poll alliances. We are confident of getting a comfortable majority...we don't believe in the philosophy of untouchability."
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani among others.
Appealing people to ensure a stable government under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's leadership, the BJP chief said the choice before the electorate was a government led by Vajpayee or "an unstable, rag-tag government (of opposition parties) where the fight for prime ministership has already begun."
He said the party's organising general secretary Sanjay Joshi is being dispatched to Lucknow to supervise the party's campaign in the state.
Some other senior leaders in states where elections are over have also been asked to move to Uttar Pradesh.
Naidu also demanded that polling in Chapra parliamentary constituency be held afresh following incidents of violence during polling on Monday.
"Laloo Yadav has misused the state machinery and resorted to violence and booth capturing in this parliamentary seat," he alleged.
Civil Aviation Minister Rajeev Pratap Rudy is the BJP candidate in Chapra.
