The Telugu Desam Party, an ally of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, on Thursday regretted that the ruling coalition did not consult it before including the Ayodhya issue in the election manifesto.

The issue could have been kept out of the manifesto, as the "the focus in the elections is on development", Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said in Hyderabad.

There would be nothing wrong if the manifesto said that the issue would be solved either through consensus or court verdict, according to him.

"If it [the NDA] promises construction of temple, it will be wrong," he said.

Asked whether it was not contrary to the TDP's stand that the issue should be kept out of the NDA agenda, Naidu said he would talk to the coalition about it.
