The Bharatiya Janata Party will launch its mega election campaign on its foundation day on April 6 with development, good governance and the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the basic themes.
"We will launch 'chunavi mahasangram' on April 6 with Prime Minister Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, party president M Venkaiah Naidu and all senior party leaders addressing public meetings across the length and breadth of the country," BJP general secretary and spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told a news conference in New Delhi on Saturday.
Vajpayee, who will address a rally in Lucknow on April 5, will address a public meeting at Guwahati in Assam the next day, while Advani will hold rallies in Ayodhya, Basti, Khalilabad, Gorakhpur and Kasiya in Uttar Pradesh.
Naidu will be in Rajkot, Daman, Selvasa and Diu as part of the 100 public meetings planned by the BJP on the day, Naqvi said.
Besides highlighting the achievements on the economic front, foreign policy, education, employment and infrastructure of the first non-Congress government to complete a five-year term at the Centre, the BJP campaign will capitalise on the "feel good" wave for the NDA.
"We will focus on Gram Rajya to Ram Rajya to super power," Naqvi said, adding that the party plans to hold more than 300 rallies and public meetings before the second phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections.
