It promises to be a big fight in Bihar's Chapra parliamentary constituency.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy filed his nomination paper for the seat on Thursday.
His main rival will be Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav, who had won the seat in the 1977 election. He is likely to file his nomination paper on Friday.
Rudy, accompanied by his supporters, went to the district collectorate in Chapra and submitted his papers to district magistrate-cum-returning officer B Pradhan.
BJP state president Gopal Narayan Singh, Nand Kishore Yadav and other party leaders were present.
Later, Rudy along with actor Anil Kapoor addressed an election rally.
Rudy had successfully contested the election from Chapra in 1996 and 1999.
