Confident of a 'landslide victory' in all four states going to polls on Monday, the Congress on Sunday said the results would herald new alignments resulting in the defeat of the National Democratic Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections next year.
"Whether you call it a semi-final or referendum, we are going to win in all the states. After the poll results are out, NDA allies are going to desert the Bharatiya Janata Party (that heads the NDA)," AICC general secretary Ahmed Patel told reporters in Delhi.
The Congress is in power in all the four states going to polls on Monday - Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi. The BJP is the only contender.
While opinion polls have indicated that the party will be returned to power in Delhi, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, only a miracle from Chief Minister Digvijay Singh like the one he came up with in 1998 can help it retain Madhya Pradesh.
