Around 55 per cent voters were estimated to have exercised their franchise in Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
The state election office said it could be over 60 per cent as final figures were still coming in.
Two persons were killed in sporadic incidents of violence and booth capturing attempts while re-polling was ordered in three stations in Bandawar constituency of Dhar district.
Reports of damage to electronic voting machines were received from some places in Dhar and Shivpuri districts.
A woman, identified as Shashi, was killed when she was caught in crossfire between two groups. A youth was also injured in the violence, Superintendent of Police, Bhind, G S Poras, said.
In Ater constituency, Bhind district, a man identified as Neeraj Karaiya was killed when unidentified persons hit him with lathis.
In Shivpuri district, which falls in the dacoit-infested Chambal region, Central Reserve Police Force jawans fired in the air to disperse clashing workers.
