Explosion in Kupwara; 2 BSF men killed

Election 2002 Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Two Border Security Force soldiers were killed and an equal number wounded in a bomb explosion at Sogam in Lolab constituency of Kupwara district on Friday.

The soldiers were going to the Government Higher Secondary School at Sogam to set up a polling booth for the final phase of the assembly election on October 8.

"As the soldiers went inside the school building, there was an explosion resulting in the death of two BSF soldiers. Two others who were wounded are undergoing treatment," said a police officer.

Polling in Lolab constituency was countermanded following the killing of state Law Minister and NC candidate Mushtaq Ahmad Lone.
