Western Australia coach Tom Moody said on Thursday he had rejected an offer to apply for the job of England head coach.
Former coach Peter Moores was sacked in January after his relationship with the then captain Kevin Pietersen broke down.
"I've been contacted by the head hunters," former Sri Lanka coach Moody was quoted as saying on the cricinfo website.
"I'm not making an application for the job. The head hunters have to produce a list and I'm not going to be on it."
Submissions for the England coaching position close on Friday. A spokesman for the England and Wales cricket board said it hoped to have a new coach in place in time for the home Test series against West Indies in May.
