Some interesting statistics at the end of the first day's play in the third Test against Australia at the Kolta on Wednesday.

2 Second hundred for Gautam Gambhir in successive innings. He is only the second Indian to score hundreds in successive innings against Australia in Tests after Vijay Hazare, who scored 116 and 145 in the same Test at Adelaide in 1947-48. Gambhir scored 104 in the second innings of the second Test in Mohali.

8 Indian batsmen have reached hundreds with a six. Gambhir now joins Polly Umrigar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar (four times),Mohammad Azharuddin, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan. Besides Gambhir, Azharuddin, Tendulkar (once) and Dravid have done so against Australia.

30 Number of Test matches played at the Ferozshah Kotla. Among Indian venues, only Kolkata's Eden Gardens (35) has hosted more Tests.

50 Lee's wickets against India. He became only the second Australian bowler after Richie Benaud (52) to take 50 wickets against India

90 Number of times Tendulkar has gone past the fifty-run mark in Test matches (39 hundreds and 51 fifties). He equaled Australian Allan Border's world record of most scores of 50 or more.

296 Runs scored by India on the first day- their best performance in a day's play against Australia at this venue.
