Ahmedabad Rockets registered an impressive 39-run victory over Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 Championship at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Electing to bat, Rockets scored a whopping 197 runs, at 9.93 runs per over, in 19.5 overs. Lions could put up only 158 for 9 in the alloted 20 overs.
Murray Goodwin led the way for Ahmedabad, scoring 61 off 31 deliveries while Ryan Campbell (28), Damien Martyn (20), K M Sanjeev (32) and R S Sodhi (23) chipped in with impressive knocks.
Love Ablish was the pick of the Chandigarh bowlers, claiming four wickets in 2.5 overs. Amit Uniyal picked two for 32 while Karanveer Singh and Rajesh Sharma got one each.
Amit Uniyal and Karanveer Singh scored 45 and 42 runs respectivey, but Chandigarh could only put up 158 runs.
Jason Gillespie claimed two wickets for 13 in three overs while and Sridharan Sriram bagged two for 35 in four.
Goodwin was named man of the match.
