# Tendulkar's 40th ton is his 10th against Australia. He became second player to post 10 centuries against Australia. England's Jack Hobbs (12) was the first to achieve the distinction.
# Tendulkar, with his 40th Test hundred, has established another world record -- most fifty-plus (91) innings with 40 hundreds and 51 half-centuries, outstripping Australia's Allan Border's tally of 90 fifty-plus innings -- 27 centuries + 63 fifties.
# Tendulkar (384 at an average of 64.00) became the third batsman after Gautam Gambhir (463 at an average of 77.16) and VVS Laxman (377 at an average of 125.66) to amass 300-plus in the 2008-09 series.
# With his 109 off 188 balls, Tendulkar surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's tally of 16 centuries on home soil.
# VVS Laxman became the eighth Indian and the 46th overall to appear in 100 Tests.

# Sehwag, during his half-century, completed 5,000 runs while opening the Indian innings - 5037 (ave. 53.02) in 99 innings, including 14 centuries and 14 fifties.
