# Australia's first innings total of 563 is their second best against India in Adelaide, next only to their 674 in 1947-48.
# This was the the second instance of both Australia and India scoring 500-plus runs in their first innings. In the 2003-04 Adelaide Test, Australia had made 556 followed by 523 by India.
# Irfan Pathan, with Brett Lee's wicket, has taken his tally of wickets to 100, thus becoming the seventh Indian all-rounder to accomplish the feat of double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in Test cricket.
Vinoo Mankad, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Harbhajan Singh are the other six to have accomplished the 'double'. Pathan is now the 16th Indian bowler to bag have 100 wickets or more in Tests.
# Ricky Ponting (140 off 266 balls) hit his fifth century against India and his 34th overall. Ponting now equals India's Sunil Gavaskar and West Indian Brian Lara in most number of Test centuries. Only Sachin Tendulkar (39) has posted more centuries than Ponting, Gavaskar and Lara.
# Ponting's five hundreds at Adelaide is a record, overtaking the previous record of four jointly held by Allan Border and David Boon.
# Ponting also completed his 1500 runs against India -- 1521 (average 49.06) -- in 19 Tests. He is the third Australian after Matthew Hayden (1654 in 14 Tests) and Allan Border (1567 in 20 Tests) to amass 1500 runs or more against India.
# Ponting and Clarke's 210-run partnership for the fourth wicket is a record for Australia against India for that wicket, eclipsing the 178 between Dean Jones and Allan Border in Chennai in 1987-88.
# Clarke (118 off 243 balls) recorded his sixth Test hundred, his second against India.
# Clarke also completed his 2000 runs in Tests -- 2044 at an average of 46.45 in 33 Tests. He is the 48th Australian to accomplish the feat in Test Cricket.
# For the fourth time in a Test innings against India, three Australians have scored centuries. The previous three instances were in Adelaide in 1947-48, Melbourne in 1967-68 and Chepauk, Madras, in 1986-87.
