4th Test: India elect to bat

India [ Images ] captain Anil Kumble [ Images ] won the toss and elected to bat on the opening day of the fourth and final Test match against Australia [ Images ] at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.

India went in with a five-bowler attack as they included off spinner Harbhajan Singh [ Images ] in the side leaving out struggling opener Wasim Jaffer [ Images ].

All-rounder Irfan Pathan [ Images ] was handed the job of opening the batting with Virender Sehwag [ Images ].

Australia made two changes in their team as opener Matthew Hayden [ Images ] returned to the team in place of Chris Rogers and paceman Shuan Tait making way for spinner Brad Hogg [ Images ].

Australia lead the series 2-1 after victories in the first two Tests at Melbourne [ Images ] and Sydney [ Images ]. India won the third Test at Perth by 72 runs.
