In a heart-warming gesture, the Cricket Board on Monday donated Rs three crore for the security personnel who either lost life or sustained injuries during last month's terror attacks in Mumbai.

BCCI secretary N Srinivasan made the announcement after the conclusion of the first India-England Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Of the amount, Rs two crore will go to the families of the heroes - Police, National Security Guards, Naval Commandos and Firemen - who laid down their lives while fighting the terrorists in Mumbai.

The remaining one crore will go to the police personnel, commandos and firemen who sustained injuries in the rescue operations, Srinivasan said in a statement.
