Two wickets in the first over of his debut Test and England spinner Graeme Swann is over the moon, describing it as an "awesome feeling". His spell helped the visitors take command of the first Test against India at the end of Day 2, in Chennai on Friday.

Swann trapped Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid leg before wicket with the third and sixth deliveries of his career to have the Indians reeling in their innings before ending the day on 155 for 6.

"It's an awesome feeling and a couple of wickets in the first Test is something special," said Swann, who became only the second bowler in Test history to claim two wickets in the first over of a debut match.

Swann, who returned 2/35 on Friday, admitted that the wicket of Gambhir could have gone either way but he would take it.

"Yes, it could have gone either way. But it went in my favour and that's it," he said.

Swann said his side will have to bowl well in the first hour on Saturday to tighten the noose on the home team.

"It was not a favourable wicket to bowl at but we knew if we bowl at right areas the pitch would do a bit. It is very encouraging that we tightened the noose of the Indians," he said.

"We need to bowl well early tomorrow and tighten the noose further," he added.

Asked how happy he was to begin his Test career with a bang, the 29-year-old replied, "I am happy that I am helping the team's cause here."
