Celebrate Team India

At 8.15 in the morning on Wednesday, the Indian team will arrive, T20 World Cup safely in their kitbag, at Mumbai's international airport.

That will trigger the sort of celebrations the metro has witnessed only twice before in its -- or indeed, in Indian cricket's -- history: in 1971, when Ajit Wadekar led the side to a historic Test series win in England, and in 1983, when Kapil Dev's Devils brought home the one day international World Cup.

There will be a ticker-tape parade, with the cricketers travelling in open vans across MumbaiĀ -- likely a very slow progress, considering the roads could be lined with celebrating fans.

When the cavalcade reaches the Wankhede Stadium, the triumphant team will be met by BCCI chief Sharad Pawar, politicians of various stripes cutting across party lines, former captains and sundry other VVIPs.

For the reception, and the felicitation function to follow, the Wankhede is being thrown open to fans on a first come, first served basis.

We will be there, bringing you the story in words, pictures, videos.
