Rain washes out third day's play

Rain played spoilsport for the second day in a row and the third day of the four-day cricket match between India [ Images ] A and South Africa [ Images ] A was also washed out without a ball being bowled in Dharamshala [ Images ] on Friday.

Heavy overnight rain which continued in the morning left the outfield completely wet at the Himachal Pradesh [ Images ] Cricket Association stadium.

Umpires S K Tarapore and G A Pratap Kumar held their first inspection at 1130 hrs and decided to call off play.

The loss of third day's has virtually ended South Africa's hopes of squaring the two-match series, which Indians are leading 1-0.

South Africans were dominating the match after the first day when they scored 264 for four in 70 overs. The opening day had also seen the pre-lunch session being washed out due to wet outfield.

Ashwell Prince [ Images ] was batting on 17 and Justing Ontong was on 22 at the close of first day.
