Rajinder Goel, the highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy history, has been named for the 'Ceat Domestic Cricket Award' for lifetime achievement.

He will receive the award -- Rs one lakh and a trophy -- on February 6 at a function in Mumbai [ Images ].

The former Haryana and North Zone spinner's name was recommended by former India [ Images ] captain Sunil Gavaskar [ Images ] from a list of cricketers who played domestic cricket with distinction.

Known as 'Mr Accurate,' Goel claimed a record 642 wickets in the Ranji Trophy.

Having played in the shadow of the great Bishan Singh Bedi [ Images ] in the heydays of Indian spin, he could not don national colours.

Goel also served as chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's junior national selection committee.
