Shikar Dhawan (148) and Virat Kohli (154 not out) struck centuries as Delhi piled up 337 for two wickets on the opening day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group A encounter against Karnataka in Bangalore on Monday.
The duo put on 266 runs for the second wicket following opener Aakash Chopra's early departure.
After the visitors opted to bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chopra was trapped by S Dhananjaya with the scoreboard reading just 22.
However, Dhawan and Kohli did not give the home bowlers any chance to build on the early success.
Dhawan hit 24 boundaries in his 211 ball-knock before walking back to pavilion. Veteran left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi had Dhawan caught by Robin Uthappa to break the partnership.
Kohli was unconquered on 154, which included 22 hits to the fence and one shot over the ropes. Giving him company was captain Mithun Manhas (26) when the stumps were drawn for the day.
