A five-wicket haul by Vinay Kumar helped Karnataka restrict Saurashtra's score to 229 for eight on the opening day of the Ranji Group A Super League match at the Mysore University grounds on Sunday.
Vinay Kumar claimed the first four wickets, leaving Saurashtra reeling at 114 for four.
He claimed his 100th first class wicket when he bowled Cheteshwar Arvind Pujara. He conceded 70 runs in 22.3 overs, of which four were maidens.
The visitors had a disastrous start and at one time were 136 for six. However the 55 run seventh wicket partnership between Rakesh and Jaidev Niranjan Shah, helped the side recover.
Cheteshwar top scored with 48.
