Baroda amassed 318 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their first innings on Day One of the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] in Lucknow [ Images ] on Saturday.

Baroda had a bad start as medium pacer Praveen Kumar [ Images ] drew first blood in the form of skipper Connor Williams's wicket. But they rallied thereafter through a second wicket stand of 119 runs between Satyajit Parab (71) and Azhar Bilakhia (48).

Yusuf Pathan [ Images ] (37) and Irfan Pathan [ Images ] (57) later came up with entertaining knocks to swell Baroda's total.

For the hosts team, Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla [ Images ] and Suresh Raina [ Images ] claimed three wickets each.
