-Tillakaratne Dilshan was playing his 100th match. He became 17th Sri Lankan and 156th player in the world to do so.
-Farveez Maharoof was making his 50th appearance. He became 30th Sri Lankan and 321st player in the world to do so.
-Sanath Jayasuriya (48) became the highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka against Pakistan, surpassing the tally of Aravinda de Silva (2319 runs from 75 matches). Jayasuriya now has an aggregate of 2,336 runs from 73 appearances against Pakistan. In all ODIs, only one batsman - West Indian Desmond Haynes (2,390 runs in 65 matches) - has aggregated more runs against Pakistan than Jayasuriya.
-Mahela Jayawardene (31) completed his 6,000 ODI runs when his score reached 10. He became only the fifth Sri Lankan after Sanath Jayasuriya, Aravinda de Silva, Marvan Atapattu and Arjuna Ranatunga and 33rd batsman in ODI history to reach this landmark.
-Marvan Atapattu (36) got run-out yet again, taking his tally of such dismissals - already a world record - to 41. This was also his ninth such dismissal against Pakistan. Now only Aravinda de Silva (11) and Rahul Dravid (10) are ahead of him in getting run-out most often against Pakistan.
-The wicket of Kumar Sangakkara was 100th for Shoaib Malik in his 123rd match. This makes him the 80th bowler worldwide and 14th from Pakistan to achieve this milestone.
-Shoaib Malik also completed the coveted all-round double of 3,000 runs and 100 wickets - only the fifth Pakistani after Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.
-By taking only 123 matches, Malik also became the quickest Pakistani to complete the all-round double of 3,000 runs and 100 wickets. The previous record was held by Afridi with 139 matches.
-Razzaq (4-50) claimed four wickets in a match for the 11th time in his career - third such instance against Sri Lanka.
-Sri Lanka has now posted 250-plus total in eight consecutive matches while batting first.
-First five batsmen scored 30-plus scores in Sri Lankan innings - the first time this has happened in ODIs. This was also only the fifth instance in ODI history when five batsmen from one side scored 30 or more runs in the same innings.
-Sri Lanka also provided the 11th instance in ODI history of a side posting a total of 250 or more without an individual fifty (Jayasuriya top scored with 48). This was also the second such instance for Sri Lanka. The earlier instance had also come against Pakistan - at Karachi on 14-08-2002 when Sri Lanka made 251 for 8 with Marvan Atapattu being the highest scorer with 42.
-Abdul Razzaq performed the all-round feat of scoring 25 runs and capturing four wickets in the same match for the fourth time in his career - most such instances for any player in the game's history. He was earlier at level with Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, South African Shaun Pollock and West Indian Chris Gayle with three such instances.
-Chaminda Vaas conceded 61 runs in his 10 overs. This was the 15th instance for him conceding 60 or more runs in a match. Only Ajit Agarkar (19), Waqar Younis (18), Javagal Srinath (16) and Brett Lee (16) are ahead of Vaas. India's Venkatesh Prasad also had a tally of 15 such instances.
-The defeat brought an end to Sri Lanka's streak of 10 consecutive wins (excluding the rain-abandoned match against India at Colombo on 18-08-2006).
