New Zealand elect to field

New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming won the toss and elected to field against Australia in the first semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy, at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium, in Mohali, on Wednesday.

New Zealand were forced to make one change, Hamish Marshall replacing injured all-rounder Scott Styris.

Fast bowler Shane Bond, who was a doubtful starter because of an injury, was declared fit for the match.

Australia decided against making any changes to their side.

Both teams won two and lost one match in the group stages before progressing to the semi-finals.

Australia are aiming to continue their good run against New Zealand, which has seen them win 15 out of the last 17 matches played between the two sides.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist, Shane Watson, Damien Martyn, Andrew Symonds , Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn McGrath.

New Zealand: Stephen Fleming (captain), Lou Vincent, Peter Fulton, Nathan Astle, Hamish Marshall, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum, James Franklin, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Shane Bond.
