- Mohammad Kaif scored his third fifty in the series. His scores in the series are: 66*, 4, 61 & 62. This is the first instance of Kaif scoring three fifties in a series or tournament.
- Brian Lara (69) scored a fifty against India after a gap of more than six years! His last fifty against India had come in a Coca Cola Cup match at Singapore in September 1999.
- In last 17 consecutive completed innings Lara has been dismissed only caught.
- The wicket of Ramnaresh Sarwan was Ajit Agarkar's 250th wicket in ODIs. He became fourth Indian after Anil Kumble (326), Javagal Srinath (315) and Kapil Dev (253) to reach this landmark.
- By taking just 163 matches, Agarkar became the fastest (in terms of matches) Indian to reach the landmark. Javagal Srinath had taken 182 matches to achieve the milestone.
- Agarkar is also the youngest among the Indians to perform this feat, at 28 years 173 days. Anil Kumble was 29 years 100 days old when he claimed his 250th wicket in January 2000.
- Just for the record, only five bowlers -- Saqlain Mushtaq (138), Waqar Younis (148), Allan Donald (148), Glenn McGrath (161) and Shane Warne (161) -- have taken lesser matches to reach the 250-wicket mark
- Pathan's only wicket in the match (Samuel's) was his 25th as LBW out of a total of 108 -- a high percentage of 23.14. Among all the bowlers in ODI cricket with a career tally of 50 or more wickets, Pathan's percentage is the highest. He went ahead of England's Mark Ealham, whose 15 LBWs out of 67 constituted 22.38%.
- Bravo (61* runs & 3-32) became only the second West Indian player to perform the all-round feat of scoring a fifty and capturing three wickets in the same match against India. The only other player to do so is Viv Richards, who made an unbeaten 110 besides taking 3-42 at Rajkot on 05-01-1988.
- The defeat was India's first in a bilateral series since losing to Pakistan 2-4 at home in April 2005.
- The last time the West Indies had won a bilateral series against a side other than Zimbabwe and Baangladesh was way back in 2002 -- also against India! The West Indies had then beaten India in India 4-3 in a seven-match series.
- The last time India lost three matches on the trot in a bilateral series was against Pakistan in a home series in April 2005. India had then lost the last four matches of the series after taking a 2-0 lead.
- Bravo won his second Man of the Match award. His only other award had come against England at Nottingham on 27-06-2004.
