India elect to field

Indian captain Rahul Dravid [ Images ] won the toss and elected to field against the West Indies [ Images ] in the first One-Day International at Sabina Park, Jamaica, on Thursday.

India [ Images ] opted for a four-man pace attack following the injury to off-spinner Ramesh Powar [ Images ].

Other players to sit out are seamer S Sreesanth [ Images ], who had a bruised heel, opener Robin Uthappa [ Images ] and middle order bat Venugopala Rao.

The West Indies left out Corey Colleymore, Dave Mohammad and Dwayne Smith [ Images ].

The start of the match was delayed by an hour due to overnight rain and the game consequently reduced to 45 overs-a-side.
